Firm partner Michael Stewart focuses his legal practice on helping individuals and families who have been wrongfully injured.

Mike has represented people across the United States in wrongful death and personal injury cases. He currently represents individuals and their families in product liability, wrongful death, railroad injury and FELA claims and other catastrophic injury cases.

In 2019, Mike was instrumental in securing justice for over 170 Haitian boys who suffered harm at the hands of a convicted pedophile and former school administrator sponsored by a Connecticut Jesuit school. He played a key role in securing a $60 million class action settlement on behalf of the victims.

Before joining the firm, Mike was a member of the United States Marine Corps from 1984 to 1988.

Education & Legal Background

In 1995, Mike earned his Juris Doctor from DePaul University College of Law in Chicago, Illinois, with a health law certificate. He is a graduate of Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, where he earned his undergraduate degree in political science.

Mike worked as an assistant state’s attorney in the Cook County State Attorney’s Office from 1995 to 1998 and then became an associate attorney for Rekowski & Associates. He also worked as an attorney for Madison County Public Defender from 1999 to 2004.

In addition to his responsibilities at the firm, Mike also works for the Madison County State Attorney’s Office as a part-time trial lawyer in the Violent Crimes Unit. In April of 2009, he was admitted to the Capital Litigation Trial Bar with a certification as lead counsel.
