Ted Gianaris - Mesothelioma Attorney
“The vast majority of people who suffer from mesothelioma have never filed a lawsuit before and never thought about filing a lawsuit before.”
Transcript: Ted Gianaris
Ted Gianaris: What I love about what I do is that there’s a lot of very intricate legal work, a lot of strategy, a lot of science but every case is really about a person or family that needs help so I get a full measure of both the human side and the legal, scientific side of the case. They often ask on airplanes or coffee shops or where ever, what kind of law do you practice and I tell them I represent guys who get poisoned at work and worked in refineries and steel mills, etc. Very seldom does it equate with you’re a trial lawyer. The vast majority of people who suffer from mesothelioma have never filed a lawsuit before and never thought about filing a lawsuit before. They might have slipped and fell at a grocery store or been rear-ended by a neighbor or somebody in their small town and they didn’t run out and hire a lawyer. They’re not what I call vexatious litigants. This isn’t something that’s in their DNA and they struggle with it. But I think a lot of times, once they start doing a little research, especially on the internet, they realize this didn’t have to happen. A lot of these companies knew this stuff was dangerous and they just turned a blind eye to it. They feel like they start to understand, well you know I worked all my life and tried my damnedest to raise my family right, to teach them values and provide for them and now I’m suffering from this terrible disease and I think somebody should be held accountable. It’s more an accountability than anything. It’s not like I’m looking to break the bank or win the lottery. It’s an accountability thing that’s what our system provides, it provides accountability.
