How to Get Involved in Miles for Meso This Year

There are several Miles for Meso events, nationally sponsored by the Firm, that recognize Mesothelioma Awareness Day on September 26. The events promote efforts to raise money for mesothelioma research, ban asbestos from all products in the United States, and build public awareness about mesothelioma and the dangers of asbestos.

This year our flagship Miles for Meso race in Alton, Illinois will take place on Saturday, Sept. 21, 2013. Early registration is now open. Other opportunities to get involved are available as well.

Vendor Sponsorships

Companies that want to reserve a booth at the vendor fair can sign up now through Sept. 16. The vendor fair takes place on race day and provides a way for companies to directly promote their business to race participants and spectators.

Past vendor fair participants include area hospitals who offered blood pressure checks, massage therapists who gave massages, area charities and many other local businesses that gave out freebies.

To reserve a vendor booth, we ask that the business make a $100 donation to Miles for Meso. For businesses who are corporate sponsors of Miles for Meso, the booth is included as one of their sponsor benefits.

If you’d like to participate in the vendor fair or get more information, please contact Miles for Meso by calling 877-304-MESO or e-mailing [email protected].

$5 for 5 Donation Campaign

When you register to participate in the Miles for Meso race, you are encouraged to join the $5 for 5 donation campaign. Because this year marks the fifth anniversary of Miles for Meso, the Firm is asking participants to consider donating an extra $5. This donation will go to the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation for mesothelioma research.

Participate in the Race

You don’t have to be an Olympic-caliber runner to participate in the Miles for Meso event. This race offers something for people of all ages and athletic abilities. The 2K Walk is geared toward families and those walking in memory of a loved one. The 5K race will appeal to those who want to run and compete. The Elite race appeals to the Olympic-caliber runners and served as an exciting spectator event for the other participants in previous years.

Race day registration takes place from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m. on Sept. 21. The start of the 5K run/2K fun run is 8:30 a.m. The start time for the elite race is 9:30 a.m. The award ceremony will take place at 10 a.m.

Prior to August 31, the entry fee for all age groups is $25 per person. The cost is $30 after August 31 and $35 on the day of the race. All participants receive a long-sleeve T-shirt.

Cash awards will go to the top three overall 5K age group runners. First place will receive $250, second place will receive $150 and third place will receive $100. In addition, Miles for Meso is a Road Runners Club of American Championship race. This means the top runners from Illinois and Missouri will receive RRCA plaques recognizing their ranking.
