Connecticut Mesothelioma Lawyers

Connecticut Asbestos Lawyers

The mesothelioma lawyers at the Simmons firm represent victims of mesothelioma cancer throughout the United States, including the state of Connecticut.  We provide legal representation and counsel to families pursuing or considering the pursuit of mesothelioma litigation. Citizens of Connecticut concerned about their exposure to asbestos can find valuable mesothelioma information and resources on this site.  The majority of individuals who have been exposed to asbestos encounter the substance in their line of work, often due to a lack of safety precautions by the employer.  Asbestos exposure can also be found in some areas as a result from breathing contaminated air near an asbestos site.  Close proximity to workers who have taken the fibers home with them on their clothing may also lead to exposure and contamination.

Asbestos Exposure in Connecticut

The EPA has cited seven Connecticut sites for asbestos contamination in its Superfund program for hazardous waste cleanup.   These sites include:

•    Antares Yale and Towne Building Fire – Stamford
•    Brunswick Mill (Former) – Plainfield
•    Capehart Mill – Norwich
•    Carvill Combing Mill – Plainfield
•    Factory H – Meridan
•    Interroyal Corporation – Plainfield
•    Philbrick-Booth Foundry Company Site – Hartford

Connecticut is also home to a former asbestos mine, located near what is currently Nepaug State Park. The Northwestern Connecticut mine is a past producer of anthophyllite asbestos, cited in 1963.  From 1990-1999, 110 people with asbestosis and 118 people with asbestos-related diseases were reported to the Connecticut Departments of Labor and Public Health.  According to the April 2000 issue of Occupational Airways, a newsletter from the Connecticut Department of Public Health, in 1996-1997, “most asbestos-related cases in Connecticut were from the construction and shipbuilding occupations, including pipefitters, plumbers, and welders."
