Attorney Jo Anna Pollock Named to Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2015 “Up & Coming Lawyer” List

ALTON, Ill. (Oct. 6, 2015) – Simmons Hanly Conroy, LLC, is proud to announce the inclusion of attorney Jo Anna Pollock in Missouri Lawyers Weekly’s 2015 “Up & Coming Lawyer” List. Pollock, along with the rest of the 2015 class, was honored Friday at a reception. The award recognizes the state’s top attorneys who are 40 or younger or within their first 10 years of practice. They must also demonstrate excellence in their profession and make a positive impact in their communities through pro bono work. Photo of attorney JoAnna Pollock

“Jo Anna is an exceptional young attorney, whose early success has helped hundreds of Missouri residents and business owners,” said Ted Gianaris, Shareholder at Simmons Hanly Conroy.

As a member of the environmental litigation team at Simmons Hanly Conroy, Pollock played an important role in securing a $6.9 million settlement on behalf of 600 residents living near the Bridgeton Sanitary Landfill in Bridgeton, MO. This class action case alleged losses in property values due to the nauseating smell coming from the landfill. Missouri Lawyers Weekly ranked the Bridgeton Landfill settlement on its “Largest Missouri Verdicts and Settlements List” for 2014.

Pollock also dedicates time to pro bono work. In 2012, Jo Anna founded the Madison County Bar Association Internship Program that mentors high school students interested in the legal profession. Students from area district schools are placed with local law firms. The students shadow an attorney for several weeks during their summer break, gaining valuable knowledge and insight to the legal world.

Pollock earned her law degree from Saint Louis University School of Law, where she served as an editor for The Journal of Health Law. Since graduating, she has written for various publications about practicing law and has attended law conferences as a speaker.
