“As a firm dedicated to being a dedicated legal advocate for our clients and communities, we are honored to have received such high ratings from our clients and peers and to be included in this prestigious list for the first time,” said Shareholder Michael Angelides, who was ranked in the 2014 “Best Lawyer” list earlier this fall. Firm attorneys Perry Browder and J. Conard Metcalf were also listed.

The 2014 Best Law Firms rankings, which are organized by tiers, spotlight 9,633 different law firms who received national, metropolitan or state rankings. Firms included in the list are recognized for professional excellence with persistently impressive ratings from clients and peers. Achieving a ranking signals a unique combination of quality law practice and breadth of legal experience, according to Best Lawyers.

The 2014 Best Law Firms rankings are based on more than 4.9 million evaluations, collected during a rigorous research process that includes client and lawyer evaluations, peer reviews from leading attorneys in their field, and review of additional information provided by the law firms as part of the formal submission process.

“Because we combine hard data with peer reviews and client assessments,” says Steven Naifeh, President and Co-Founder of Best Lawyers, “more and more clients inform us ours are the most thorough, accurate, and helpful rankings of law firms ever developed.”

Clients and peers were asked to evaluate firms based on the following criteria: responsiveness, understanding of a business and its needs, cost-effectiveness, integrity and civility, as well as whether they would refer a matter to the firm and/or consider the firm a worthy competitor.

The national and metropolitan first-tier rankings will be featured in the “Best Law Firms” stand-alone publication, which is distributed to 30,000 general counsel lawyers and to 58,000 private practice lawyers worldwide, in digital format. The rankings in their entirety are posted online at http://bestlawfirms.usnews.com.
