ST LOUIS – Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC, one of the largest mass torts firms in the country, is pleased to announce that Managing Shareholder Michael Angelides was chosen by his peers, along with Shareholders Perry Browder and Nicholas Angelides and Of Counsel Conard Metcalf, for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2015 in the field of personal injury litigation – plaintiffs. Metcalf was also included in the field of product liability litigation – plaintiffs. Best Lawyers is considered a definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States by both the legal profession and the public.

“As a firm dedicated to providing excellent results and service to clients throughout the country, we are truly honored to have members of our firm recognized in the Best Lawyers list,” said Firm Chairman John Simmons.

Michael Angelides has appeared on the Best Lawyers list for four years. With 20 years of litigation experience, he has represented hundreds of victims of asbestos-related diseases, recovering hundreds of millions on their behalf.

“I’m proud of the fact that no one helps as many mesothelioma victims as the firm does on an annual basis,” he said. As Managing Shareholder, he oversees the firm’s practice areas including, mesothelioma and asbestos, dangerous drugs and devices, class actions and other mass torts.

This year marks the third year Perry Browder has been included in the Best Lawyers list. Besides this honor, he has also been named the Best Lawyers’ 2014-15 St. Louis Personal Injury Litigation – Plaintiffs “Lawyer of the Year.” Only a single lawyer in each practice area in each community receives this honor. With over 25 years of experience, Browder has litigated hundreds of asbestos cases and has played a key role in some of the largest asbestos verdicts in the country, including a $250 million verdict against U.S. Steel in Whittington v U.S. Steel, No. 02-L-1113 (Madison County, Ill., 3rd Cir. Ct., 2003).

This year marks the first year Nicholas Angelides has been included on the Best Lawyers list. With over 15 years of experience, he has litigated asbestos cases throughout the country and recovered hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of individuals and families impacted by asbestos-related diseases. He currently helps direct the legal strategy for all of the firm’s asbestos and mesothelioma cases and oversees the firm’s Los Angeles office.

“I became a lawyer in the asbestos field to hold companies accountable for their decision to poison workers,” Nick said. He has extensive experience in representing individuals exposed to asbestos through their work as pipefitters, sheet metal workers, ship yard workers, HVAC workers and more.

Of Council attorney Conard Metcalf has been included in Best Lawyers since 1995 in the areas of product liability – plaintiffs and personal injury – plaintiffs. A seasoned litigator, Metcalf has represented thousands diagnosed with asbestos-caused cancers and recovered hundreds of millions of dollars on their behalf.

He is a founding member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, a national organization of trial lawyers representing people whose causes involve important issues of justice and fairness. Metcalf also wrote the brief on behalf of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, filed in the U. S. Supreme Court in the important asbestos case of Edwards v. Celotex, 514 US 300 (1995).

About Best Lawyers in America

Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers (Copyright 2014 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, SC) has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-reviewed survey, in which more than 36,000 leading attorneys cast almost 4.4 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel Magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
