The Simmons Hanly Conroy has donated $40,000 to the Delaware Combined Campaign for Justice 2009. Its annual donations to the charity help fulfill the organization’s mission to increase the availability of civil legal services to people of low income.
Providing free services to low-income households is a critical component to improving the lives of residents living in Delaware, and the legal community continues to rally to the cause. The Simmons law firm recently made a contribution to the Delaware Combined Campaign for Justice. In line with the charity’s mission to turn “adversity into opportunity,” Simmons Hanly Conroy hopes its donations give more Delawareans the opportunity to find resources that meet their most basic needs: keeping families in their homes, putting food on children’s tables, securing the safety of abuse victims, and ensuring access to justice for the most downtrodden.
In 2008, the Combined Campaign for Justice provided legal services to 13,920 Delawareans and their families. For its ten years of existence, the Combined Campaign for Justice (along with Delaware) has lead the nation in per capita giving by attorneys and law firms to statewide legal services campaigns.

The firm has pledged more than $20 million to charitable causes, including $15 million to cancer research, $10 million of which helped build the SimmonsCooper Cancer Institute at Southern Illinois University in Springfield.

The Combined Campaign for Justice is a partnership of the Delaware State Bar Association, the Community Legal Aid Society, Inc., Delaware Volunteer Legal Services and the Legal Services Corporation of Delaware. These partners joined to increase the availability of civil legal services to people of low income in Delaware by increasing the resources available to fund legal services. The Combined Campaign for Justice kicked off March 1, 1999.
