Attorney Matt Petersen brings more than 10 years of legal experience to Simmons Hanly Conroy. He focuses his practice on helping families who have lost a loved one to an asbestos-related disease in the areas of estate and trust issues when they are related to ongoing asbestos litigation.

He has helped hundreds of people affected by a mesothelioma diagnosis ensure their families’ well-being by providing services, such as forming trusts for grandchildren and handling Medicare and medical liens.

“My clients are trying to deal with a myriad of issues all at once, so having someone like me help ensure their recovery amounts are financially secure through a trust is a benefit they might not have considered,” Matt said.

Matt also speaks Spanish and helps keep the firm’s Spanish-speaking clients updated about the progress of their cases. He answers any questions or concerns they have throughout the litigation process.

Background and Experience

Before joining the firm, Matt worked in the trust department of one the largest banks in the United States. He also worked at two Connecticut-based law firms where he specialized in estate and trust law and personal litigation.

Matt completed his undergraduate degree at Saint Louis University and earned a master’s degree in international affairs with a concentration in economics at Florida State University. He received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
