Patient, Hospital Reach $2 Million Settlement in Medical Malpractice Lawsuit

In October 2016, Simmons Hanly Conroy settled a case involving an improper blood transfusion to a patient in a St. Louis area hospital for $2 million. The firm worked diligently with preeminent expert doctors to determine the extent of the patient’s injuries.

Firm attorneys negotiated with the hospital’s lawyers for a significant settlement before filing a lawsuit but also tried to find out what went wrong and why. The hospital had already completed an investigation and developed a plan to improve the safety of blood transfusions that should reduce the chance of this happening again.

The firm accomplished two main goals: it secured fair-money fast for the client and is satisfied there is a plan that should make blood transfusions safer at this St Louis hospital.
