ALTON, Illinois – Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s largest mass torts firms, is pleased to announce Shareholder Paul Dix has been named to Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer’s 21st Annual “40 Under Forty” list.
More than 1,000 attorneys were nominated from across the state of Illinois, with honorees selected based on the recommendations of peers and other members of the legal profession. This year’s 40 recipients were recognized in both legal publications and at a virtual event recently. An in-person event is planned for 2021.
“We are thrilled to see Paul receive this well-deserved honor,” said Chairman John Simmons. “He is a compassionate attorney who brings clients and their families financial relief while they face otherwise insurmountable odds. We are proud to have him on our team.”
At Simmons Hanly Conroy, Dix oversees an asbestos trial team representing individuals suffering from mesothelioma, a deadly cancer caused by exposure to asbestos. In the past 14 years, he and his team have secured more than $450 million in settlements for clients and their families. Dix recently secured more than $2.5 million for a Navy veteran who was exposed to asbestos via pumps, valves, boilers, and other equipment. Another recent case resulted in a $2 million settlement for a woman exposed to asbestos as a result of her husband’s work in commercial construction.
Outside the office, Dix serves in leadership positions for several non-profit organizations and advisory boards. He also mentors both high school and college students at his alma maters and is actively involved in the firm’s pro bono efforts on behalf of veterans and other residents of Madison County, Ill.
Dix is a member of the American Association for Justice, American Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers Association and several local bar organizations. He received both his J.D. and Bachelor of Arts degrees from Saint Louis University.
