Rosenthal concludes long-time board commitment; renews role as co-editor of the organization’s flagship publication.

SAN FRANCISCO – Simmons Hanly Conroy, a national leader in the legal representation of mesothelioma patients and their families, is pleased to recognize San Francisco Partner Deborah Rosenthal for her five years of dedicated board service with the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association (SFTLA), a 501(c)(3) that serves the needs of the plaintiff’s bar and promotes civil justice through education and advocacy.

Rosenthal has served as an SFTLA board member since 2021 and will conclude her term this year. She has renewed her term as co-editor of its flagship publication, The Trial Lawyer, a role she has held since 2020. Through Rosenthal’s longstanding dedication to SFTLA, she has helped shape and guide the organization’s objectives and demonstrated thought leadership in a range of capacities.

Rosenthal has helped to plan, manage, and hone content for each of the magazine’s quarterly issues, which reaches more than 600 SFTLA members. Her in-depth piece about California’s 2024-25 budget ran in The Trial Lawyer’s Spring 2024 issue. Watch out for the next issue in which she will discuss the ways in which lawyers are using AI.

Functioning as an extension of the SFTLA’s Diversity Committee, the task force established an action plan and resources to combat manifestations of implicit bias within the civil justice system.

“It has been my pleasure and honor to serve peers and the legal system in this meaningful way. SFTLA works so hard to fulfill its mission of serving the local community of legal advocates for the injured and exploited. I look forward to staying involved in SFTLA’s important editorial efforts,” Rosenthal said.

Rosenthal brings 25 years of experience as a litigator to the firm’s asbestos, sexual abuse, and personal injury practice groups. She has helped secure millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements on her clients’ behalf, against defective product manufacturers, oil and shipping companies, telecom carriers, and other institutional and individual wrongdoers. She has dedicated her career to representing those who have been exploited and abused by corporations and others who have misused their power to the detriment of others.

For more than 70 years, the SFTLA has been providing outreach and support to help members run their law firms, connect with top legal vendors and service providers, and network with members of the bench, local legislators, law students, and attorneys across both sides of the bar.
