Meet Your Asbestos Trial Team Investigator

Jay Silva is a member of our team of Asbestos Case Investigators at Simmons Hanly Conroy. As such, he is responsible for gathering details about a client’s asbestos exposure and medical history. Jay travels around the country to meet in-person with potential mesothelioma clients to discuss their case and walk them through the legal documents. These details and documents allow the legal team to get started on a claim immediately.

Jay was born and raised in Central Illinois in a small-town farming community with his family. His father was a small business owner involved in the manufacturing and sale of brooms used in a heavy machinery environment.

After attending Eastern Illinois University, he joined the U.S. Marine Corps. As a sergeant, he was stationed literally from coast to coast starting in California and ultimately moving east to Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Prior to working at Simmons Hanly Conroy, Jay owned a home construction business where he was constantly surrounded by the dangers of asbestos-containing products during remodeling projects. Asbestos continued lurking where he later worked at an oil refinery as a union member of the Boilermakers Local 363.

He currently lives in Southern Illinois with his wife of over 25 years. He has three children and is highly involved in the community. As his children have grown so have his coaching responsibilities. Jay has coached boys’ and girls’ basketball and baseball teams starting with the third grade all the way through high school. In addition, he recently founded a youth athletic club that grew to over 100 children participants.

He has worked with Simmons Hanly Conroy for over 15 years and has been an investigator for the asbestos team for over 11 years. His varied life experiences help him to personally connect with each of his clients and their families. He also possesses the ability to thoroughly communicate due to being fluent in both English and Spanish.
