Instead of granting approval, the FDA offered the maker of Contrave a three-month extension to allow more time for review. Contrave, also called NB32, is a prescription weight loss drug similar to Qsymia and Belviq, two drugs approved in 2012.
- Wockhardt recalls 8,712 bottles of hypertension drug in U.S.
More than 8,000 bottles of the hypertension medication Metoprolol Succinate are being recalled by the FDA after failing a dissolution tests. The nationwide Class-II recall was issued on April 10.

Strong product standards are in development for electronic cigarettes and other nicotine delivery devices. The FDA is developing the standards as part of its preparations to gain regulatory authority over e-cigarettes.
