Real Mesothelioma Stories: Dale

Mesothelioma has impacted the lives of thousands of people across the United States. Some of these individuals turn to mesothelioma lawyers like those at the Firm for guidance in the asbestos litigation process.

After a mesothelioma diagnosis, medical costs can add up quickly. In many cases, a heavy financial burden falls on the shoulders of the patient and their loved ones who are already dealing with so much. That’s where Simmons Hanly Conroy can come in. Our constant priority is helping our clients seek justice in the American legal system. We help clients secure the compensation they deserve to cover these expensive medical bills.

Our approach was no different with our former client, Dale.

Meet Dale

Dale experienced asbestos exposure through his career at a packaging plant where he worked for 36 years. In the 1970s, the packaging company made steam panels for Oscar Meyer. These panels were insulated with asbestos. At the time, Dale and the other workers were not aware of the health risks of asbestos exposure.

Years later while enjoying a much-deserved retirement with his wife of 48 years, Dale’s lung filled with fluid. Doctors performed a biopsy where they identified mesothelioma cells. Dale was officially diagnosed with mesothelioma.

“We were told to start the [lawsuit] process right away, because there are so many bills,” said Dale’s wife Betty in a video interview in 2010. “Financially, you just needed to do that.”

Many members of the Firm team worked diligently on this case to pursue the best possible outcome for Dale and Betty. Dale’s mesothelioma lawsuit process resulted in a settlement without trial that helped cover Dale’s medical costs, including his surgery to remove his left lung.

“Every day is important,” said Betty.

Dale passed away from mesothelioma in August 2010. This video is dedicated to his memory. Click to watch the short video now.
