Attorney Andrew S. Murrie joined Simmons Hanly Conroy in 2013 and was promoted to partner in 2018. He focuses his practice on helping individuals and families impacted by asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma.

Before joining the firm, Andy spent years representing clients in the areas of mesothelioma and asbestos litigation, personal injury and commercial litigation. He is experienced in all aspects of litigation and has helped recover millions of dollars in settlements and verdicts on behalf of his clients. Andy also has first-chair jury trial experience in Madison County, Illinois.

Andy prepares clients for depositions and identifies co-workers and family members who can assist in the claim. “Our clients are people who spent their lives working hard to take care of their families. Because of that work, they are now very ill,” Andy said. “It is a tragedy, and our clients handle it with incredible grace. We are a voice for their situation.”

Record of Success

Since 2013, Andy secured settlements in asbestos cases resulting in mesothelioma settlements of more than $500 million.

Andy manages dozens of cases each year across approximately 15 jurisdictions, a notable achievement given the complexity of asbestos litigation.

Because mesothelioma can take decades to develop, Andy often pieces together exposure histories reaching back 50 to 60 years. This can involve locating defunct or restructured companies and balancing legal timelines with the urgent medical needs of his clients.

He attributes his success to being relatable, responsive, and transparent — qualities that help maximize the value of each case and have resulted in millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients.

Education & Admissions

Andy earned his law degree from St. Louis University School of Law where he received an Academic Excellence Award for the highest grade in Torts. He completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana in political science.

Andy has been a member of the Missouri and Illinois Bar since 2007, and is admitted to the U.S. District Courts for the Eastern District of Missouri and Southern District of Illinois. Andy is also admitted as a member of the United States Supreme Court Bar.

Beyond the Courtroom

During his free time, Andy trains to run marathons around the country. He has even finished the Boston Marathon several times. Andy and his wife also volunteer for the St. Louis chapter of the ALS Association, which works to find a cure and better treatment options for Lou Gehrig’s disease.

“I was raised in a small town in Southern Illinois where many of my family members worked in the same trades as our clients,” Andy said. “I am dedicated to being an advocate for these families.”
