Simmons Hanly Conroy Shareholder Courtney Gregory Named to “40 Under Forty” List

ALTON, Ill. Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s largest mass torts firms, is pleased to announce Courtney Gregory, a Shareholder representing victims of mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases, has been named to Chicago Daily Law Bulletin and Chicago Lawyer’s annual “40 Under Forty” list.

This year’s list marks the 20th anniversary of the awards, which recognize up-and-coming lawyers in Chicago and across the state of Illinois. More than 1,000 attorneys were nominated for the 2019 awards. This year’s celebration will salute not only the current “40 Under Forty” class but more than 700 alumni.

“We are thrilled to see Courtney earn this well-deserved honor,” said Perry J. Browder, a Simmons Hanly Conroy Shareholder and head of the firm’s Asbestos Group. “Courtney not only brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the courtroom, she becomes an extension of the families she fights for. During her more than 10 years at Simmons Hanly Conroy, Gregory has handled all aspects of individual asbestos cases, including discovery, motion practice and depositions. She is licensed to practice in Missouri, Illinois and Pennsylvania and has practiced pro hac in Arkansas, Alabama and New York. She has helped secure significant verdicts and settlements for her clients and tirelessly works both in and out of the courtroom on their behalf. Her dedication to her clients is evidenced by her willingness to travel to their hospital bedsides, carefully walk them through deposition and testimonies, and seamlessly complete their cases on an expedited timeline.

Gregory is a member of number of legal organizations, including the American Association for Justice, Missouri Bar Association, Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys, Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, Madison County Bar Association, Alton-Wood River Bar Association and Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis. She has donated her legal services as a volunteer attorney during Madison County’s Expungement Day events, during which hundreds of Madison County residents have had their records expunged, as well as the to the Madison County Legal Clinic.  Additionally, every year Gregory volunteers for the Miles for Meso 5K Race, raising money for mesothelioma cancer research and further supporting efforts to help her clients.

In 2018, Gregory was recognized by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as an “Up and Coming Lawyer.”

Gregory received both her J.D. and Bachelor of Science degrees from Saint Louis University.
