Justin Tarshis focuses his practice on complex litigation and class action lawsuits in the firm’s New York City office.
He is a relentless advocate for his clients, providing clear and transparent communication throughout the legal process while also pursuing results that have a lasting impact for countless individuals.
“I appreciate the challenge of standing up for consumers against large, powerful corporations,” said Justin. “The ability to achieve systemic changes and recourse for thousands of consumers with a single victory is what makes this work so meaningful.”
Throughout his legal career, Justin has been involved in all phases of litigation, including pre-suit investigations, drafting complaints, managing extensive discovery, briefing dispositive and class certification motions, preparing cases for trial, and handling appeals.
Justin has served on litigation teams that recovered hundreds of millions of dollars on behalf of pension funds, individual investors, and consumers nationwide.
His work spans both federal and state courts and requires close coordination with experts, co-counsel, and institutional clients. This has allowed him to gain significant experience litigating high-stakes matters involving complex factual records, economic analyses, and evolving legal standards.
At Simmons Hanly Conroy, Justin applies this extensive experience to cash sweep lawsuits and other class actions, using his strategic approach to motion practice and meticulous attention to detail to build a strong case for his clients.
“I represent individuals and classes who deserve a level playing field,” said Justin. “My practice combines sharp litigation strategy, disciplined risk assessment, and aggressive advocacy designed to create real change, in addition to securing settlements.”
During his undergraduate career, Justin earned a Bachelor of Science from the University of Wisconsin. He went on to attend Brooklyn Law School, where he graduated cum laude with his J.D.
While at law school, Justin was awarded the Samuel L. Sporn Academic Achievement Scholarship and the CALI Excellence for the Future Award in Civil Practice. He also gained valuable experience as a judicial intern to the Honorable Shira A. Scheindlin of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York and as a legal intern at the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
Prior to joining Simmons Hanly Conroy in 2026, Justin spent two decades practicing at a class action law firm in New York City, where he focused on securities, antitrust, consumer protection, derivative, and other complex litigation matters.
His practice regularly involved litigating against some of the largest corporations in the country, including financial institutions, insurance companies, and tobacco companies, with the goal of protecting investors and consumers from corporate misconduct.
