Forrest Wulf, a Simmons Hanly Conroy patient

Forrest’s Story

Forrest Wulf was a father, husband, and Wood River native. He spent decades working at construction sites throughout Illinois to provide for his family, where he was unknowingly exposed to asbestos-containing products.

After Forrest began experiencing shortness of breath, he was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma and forced into early retirement. He was only 56.

When Forrest learned that many asbestos companies knew their products were dangerous but hid the risks, he reached out to our Wood River mesothelioma attorneys for help. He also became a familiar face at the firm’s annual Miles for Meso 5K, volunteering as a course marshal.

“I wouldn’t have a thing if it wasn’t for my ability to hold the companies who harmed me accountable in court,” said Forrest.

Albert Manning, a Simmons Hanly Conroy patient

Albert’s Story

Albert and his wife were enjoying their retirement in the Riverbend region when he fell at home, leading to an unexpected hospital visit. In his scans, doctors noticed nodules on the lining of his lungs. He was eventually diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma.

Albert has been exposed to asbestos while working as an electrician and during his time in the U.S. Navy. However, he hadn’t been warned about the risks associated with this mineral.

Our Wood River mesothelioma attorneys were able to fight for justice on his behalf. We secured compensation to protect his family’s future, which provided him with peace of mind before his passing.

“If you’ve been diagnosed with mesothelioma, go see the Simmons Hanly Conroy law firm. They’ll be by your side the whole way through,” said Albert’s daughter Linda.

George’s Story

When George was diagnosed with pleural mesothelioma at just 62 years old, he made a point to spend each day doing the things he loved with the people that mattered most to him.

Though he passed away the following year, George’s legacy continues to live on. Each year, his family attends the annual Miles for Meso event in Alton, which allows them to gather with other families impacted by this cancer.

“The Miles for Meso race brings everybody back together,” said George’s son Tyler. “It’s great that we get to raise awareness about mesothelioma and raise funds, but it’s also important that we get together to celebrate Dad’s life.”

George’s family also hosts an annual golf tournament in his honor, with all of the proceeds going to mesothelioma research.

Together, Miles for Meso races across the country have raised over $977,500 for mesothelioma research and advocacy. Simmons Hanly Conroy continues to be a national sponsor of the event.
