Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC, a nationwide complex litigation firm, is pleased to announce Managing Shareholder Michael Angelides, Shareholder Perry Browder and Of Counsel attorney Conard Metcalf have been selected by their peers for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America© 2014 in the fields of personal injury litigation – plaintiffs. Metcalf was also included in the field of product liability litigation – plaintiffs. Best Lawyers is considered a definitive guide to legal excellence in the United States by both the legal profession and the public.
“As a firm dedicated to providing excellent results and service to clients throughout the country, we are truly honored to have members of our firm recognized as Best Lawyers,” said Firm Chairman John Simmons. “Their leadership has played a crucial role in developing the Firm into one of the county’s leading asbestos litigation firms.”
This year marks the second year Browder has been included in the Best Lawyers list. With nearly 25 years of experience, Browder has litigated hundreds of asbestos cases and has played a key role in some of the largest asbestos verdicts in the country, including a $250 million verdict against U.S. Steel in Whittington v U.S. Steel, No. 02-L-1113 (Madison County, Ill., 3rd Cir. Ct., 2003). Browder has also achieved an AV Rating from Martindale-Hubbell.
With nearly twenty years of litigation experience, Angelides has represented hundreds of victims of asbestos-related diseases, recovering hundreds of millions on their behalf. As Managing Shareholder, he has overseen the growth of the firm’s pharmaceutical injury, contingent-fee complex litigation and environmental litigation practices.
Of Council attorney Conard Metcalf has been included in Best Lawyers since 1995 in the areas of product liability – plaintiffs and personal injury – plaintiffs. A seasoned litigator, Metcalf has represented thousands diagnosed with asbestos-caused cancers and recovered hundreds of millions of dollars on their behalf.
He is a founding member of Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, a national organization of trial lawyers representing people whose causes involve important issues of justice and fairness.
Metcalf also wrote the brief on behalf of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America that was filed in the United States Supreme Court in the important asbestos case of Edwards v. Celotex, 514 US 300 (1995).
About Best Lawyers in America
Since it was first published in 1983, Best Lawyers (Copyright 2012 by Woodward/White, Inc., of Aiken, SC) has become universally regarded as the definitive guide to legal excellence. Because Best Lawyers is based on an exhaustive peer-reviewed survey, in which more than 36,000 leading attorneys cast almost 4.4 million votes on the legal abilities of other lawyers in their practice areas. Because lawyers are not required or allowed to pay a fee to be listed, inclusion in Best Lawyers is considered a singular honor. Corporate Counsel Magazine has called Best Lawyers “the most respected referral list of attorneys in practice.”
