New York – Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s largest mass torts firms, is pleased to announce the National Law Journal has Named Shareholder Jayne Conroy to its 2020 Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazers list. The honorees are recognized in the May 1 issue.
Throughout the year, the National Law Journal recognizes attorneys who are agents of change in various practice areas. The fourth annual Plaintiffs’ Lawyers Trailblazer awards spotlight attorneys who have blazed trails in consumer rights, wrongful death and a variety of other matters on behalf of plaintiffs.

With more than 30 years of experience as a skilled strategist, trial lawyer and negotiator, Conroy focuses her practice on complex civil cases. As co-lead of the negotiation class for the National Prescription Opiate MDL, she helped secure more than $325 million in settlements as a key member of the first bellwether trial team. She also helped secure one ten-figure and two nine-figure verdicts as a key member of the trial team and Plaintiffs’ Executive Committee for the DePuy Pinnace Hip Implant MDL. Other significant cases involve serving on the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee for the Volkswagen “Clean Diesel” MDL and the litigation team in a Catholic sex abuse class action case that resolved with a $60 million class action settlement.
Conroy has dedicated her career to mentoring young female lawyers as well as advocating for more prominent female roles in plaintiff litigation cases of national scope. To promote greater diversity in appointments and trial teams, Conroy has consistently tried to create diverse trial teams so that no demographic is overlooked.
In addition to her law practice, Conroy regularly speaks on trial advocacy and sits on expert panels at national litigation conferences. Last year, she was inducted into the highly regarded American Law Institute. Other honors include: “Trial Lawyer Hall of Fame,” National Trial Lawyers Association, 2019; “Leading Women Lawyers in New York City,” Crain’s New York Business, 2018; “Best Lawyers in America,” Best Lawyers, 2018; “Product Liability MVP,” Law360, 2016-2017; “Top Women in Law,” New York Law Journal, 2016; and “Outstanding Women Lawyers,” National Law Journal, 2015, among others.
Conroy received her J.D. from New England School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts from Dartmouth College.
