  • Second Geologist Confirms Asbestos-Form Fibers at Proposed Mine Site
    The presence of asbestos-like fibers has been confirmed by a second geologist at a proposed iron ore mine in Penokee Hills, Wisconsin. Along with this confirmation comes the warning that, if disturbed, the asbestos fibers have the potential to cause serious harm.
  • GTAC: ‘Asbestos merely issues in the media, not the mine’
    Gogebic Taconite (GTAC) is a Florida-based company hoping to dig the world’s largest open put iron ore mine near the Bad River Ojibwe Reservation in Wisconsin. The company has been battling with the tribe and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) over issues with possible asbestos minerals in the location of the new mine.
  • The 2014 International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma Announced
    The Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation has announced its 11th annual International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma, a conference for the entire meso community, will take place March 5 – 7, 2014 in Washington, D.C. A simultaneous scientific seminar on the disease will take place congruently for the medical community as well.
  • The 10th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference Announced
    More than 30 renowned experts and asbestos victims from ten countries will present the latest advancements in disease prevention, global advocacy and treatment for mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases during the “Where Knowledge and Action Unite” 10th Annual International Asbestos Awareness Conference The conference, presented by the Asbestos Disease Awareness Organization, will take place April 4-6, 2014 in Washington, D.C.
