2015 International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma to Take Place March 2 – 4

Even though mesothelioma is considered a rare disease, it affects thousands of people every year. Organizations like the Mesothelioma Applied Research Foundation (MARF) are dedicated to finding a cure – and they do so through events like the International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma.

This year, the Meso Foundation’s symposium will take place on March 2 – 4 in Bethesda, Maryland. The event will be co-hosted by the National Cancer Institute (NCI) and will take place on the grounds of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). This is especially significant because the NIH is one of the world’s leading medical research centers.

Symposium3The 2015 Mesothelioma Symposium’s agenda is valuable to the general public as well as scientists and medical professionals. According to the foundation, nearly 100 mesothelioma experts will be sharing their work and collaborative opportunities to not only improve mesothelioma treatment, but to find a cure.

Sessions will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Pleural and peritoneal mesothelioma
  • Treatment
  • Clinical trials
  • Mesothelioma surgery
  • Mesothelioma prevention
  • Support groups, well-being and community sessions

The Symposium will conclude with Mesothelioma Advocacy Day on Wednesday, March 4, on Capitol Hill. This is a time for mesothelioma patients, caregivers, doctors and nurses to visit elected officials and educate them about the devastation of mesothelioma.

Simmons Hanly Conroy is pleased to announce that it has renewed its support of the Meso Foundation with a $25,000 donation to support the 2015 International Symposium on Malignant Mesothelioma. Having donated more than $2 million to the Foundation over the past decade, the firm applauds the foundation’s work on behalf of patients and families.

Anyone who has been affected by mesothelioma – whether you have lost a loved one, are currently caring for a loved one, have been diagnosed with mesothelioma yourself, or are a medical professional who treats patients with mesothelioma – will find the 2015 Symposium a good mesothelioma resource. If you cannot attend in person but would still like to participate, the foundation will live stream the event on their website.
