ALTON, Ill. – Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s largest mass tort law firms and a national leader in the legal representation of mesothelioma patients and their families, is pleased to announce that firm partner Jared Hausmann has been selected as a 2026 Up & Coming Award honoree by Missouri Lawyers Media.
The Up & Coming Awards recognize young attorneys who are making a positive difference in the practice of law in Missouri and whose outstanding contributions have them on track for continued success. The annual program brings together more than 200 young attorneys and law firm leaders each fall.
“Jared has distinguished himself through his skill as an advocate and his dedication to achieving meaningful results for our clients,” said Simmons Hanly Conroy Managing Partner Laurence V. Nassif. “We look forward to seeing all that he continues to accomplish as his career progresses.”
Hausmann concentrates on motions, defendant discovery, and appeals, and he has played an important role on the firm’s appellate team in defending asbestos verdicts on behalf of clients. In just his first decade of practice, Hausmann has helped secure multimillion-dollar verdicts and settlements for individuals and families affected by mesothelioma.
In 2024, Hausmann and the firm’s appellate team successfully defended a $15 million verdict against a joint compound manufacturer on behalf of the family of a construction worker who died from mesothelioma. The appeal was one of the first decided under New York’s Nemeth standard for causation in toxic tort cases.
Hausmann has also achieved success at the trial court level. In 2022, he successfully briefed and argued against a defendant’s post-trial motion to set aside a $3.8 million verdict secured for the family of a maintenance worker at a Pennsylvania plastics company. The case involved complex issues of statutory interpretation and workers’ compensation exclusivity, and Jared’s advocacy helped keep the verdict intact.
Earlier this year, Missouri Lawyers Media named Hausmann a 2026 Influential Appellate Attorney for his work as a member of the firm’s appellate team.
Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, Hausmann served as a law clerk in the Staff Attorney’s Office of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. He earned his J.D., magna cum laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law and his B.A. in political science, summa cum laude, from Eastern Illinois University.
The 2026 Up & Coming Awards will be held Wednesday, Oct. 21, at the Missouri Athletic Club in downtown St. Louis.
