NEW YORK – Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s leading mesothelioma law firms, is pleased to announce Firm Shareholder Perry J. Browder has been elected to the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) Board of Governors for Area 8.
“I am honored to serve another term on the ISBA Board of Governors and am humbled to have the trust of ISBA members,” Browder said.
Founded in 1877, the ISBA is the premier legal association in the state. As a voluntary organization of more than 30,000 members, the Association’s primary focus is to assist Illinois lawyers in the practice of law and to promote improvements in the administration of justice.
Browder was appointed to the Board of Governors in 2017 and sought election to the same position this year. He was also elected president of the Illinois Bar Foundation (IBF), the charitable arm of the ISBA, in the same year. Active on the IBF Board since 2005, Browder previously served as secretary and vice president of the organization before being elected and installed as president in 2017. He is also a Pillar of the Foundation in the IBF Fellows Program.
With more than 30 years’ experience as an attorney, Browder has proven his leadership capabilities in his professional and service work. He is currently the head of the firm’s Asbestos Group. Overseeing all asbestos cases, he leads more than 50 attorneys as they work to bring justice to clients who were harmed through no fault of their own against large companies who knew the dangers of asbestos. He has a proven track record of success, securing millions of dollars in verdicts and settlements for his clients. In 2001, he secured a $250 million verdict against U.S. Steel, one of the largest asbestos verdicts in the country. He is also the former president of the Illinois Trial Lawyers Association.
Browder has played a key role in helping Simmons Hanly Conroy develop a national reputation. He has been recognized as an Illinois Super Lawyer from 2011-2018, received a 5.0 AV ranking from Martindale-Hubbell, and was honored as the 2015 “Lawyer of the Year” for Personal Injury Litigation – St. Louis by Best Lawyers. Additionally, he was recognized as a Best Lawyer in the same category from 2013-2017.
