Simmons Hanly Conroy Lawyer Dave Miceli Chosen to Help Lead National Litigation Against Pfizer Pharmaceuticals

Chantix Lawsuits Consolidated to Alabama Federal Court

The Simmons law firm’s Dave Miceli will serve on the Plaintiff’s Steering Committee for the Multidistrict Litigation (MDL) dedicated to representing the cases filed by plaintiffs harmed or killed by the smoking cessation drug, Chantix. This drug is manufactured and marketed by Pfizer Pharmaceuticals.

In the Chantix class action lawsuits against Pfizer, users claim they have experienced suicidal tendencies, unusual thoughts, aggressive behavior, and other side effects while using Chantix to quit smoking. One particular case involves the death of Texas musician, Carter Albrecht, of the famed group, Edie Brickell and the New Bohemians.

Due to the MDL, these cases filed in federal courthouses across the country will now be consolidated and centralized in the Northern District of Alabama for pre-trial hearings to help with consistency of rulings. This location is the most convenient for all the involved parties.

Mr. Micelli has Bar Association membership in Alabama since 1992 and is experienced in handling complex pharmaceutical litigation cases.

Because of the many cases against Pfizer, the Food and Drug Administration has ordered for a black box warning on Chantix this month, outlining its dangerous side effects. Nevertheless, Plaintiffs harmed by Chantix will receive their day in an Alabama courtroom.
