Simmons Hanly Conroy Elevates Two Attorneys to Shareholder

ALTON, Illinois  – Simmons Hanly Conroy, one of the nation’s largest product liability and mass tort firms, is pleased to announce two attorneys have been promoted to Shareholder, effective Jan. 1. The new Shareholders are Michael K. Hibey and Laura S. Fitzpatrick.

Hibey is based in the firm’s office in Alton, Illinois and Fitzpatrick operates out of the New York office.

“With decades of combined legal experience, Laura and Mike have developed national reputations as dedicated advocates for individuals harmed by corporate wrongdoing,” said Simmons Hanly Conroy Chairman John Simmons. “I’m proud to recognize them with these well-earned promotions.”

Hibey focuses his practice on helping hundreds of individuals and families impacted by asbestos-related diseases like mesothelioma. He has helped recover millions of dollars on their behalf. Before joining the firm, he practiced law at his own firm in Washington, D.C. where he litigated personal injury cases in federal and state courts. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center after completing undergraduate studies in finance and history at the University of Notre Dame.

Fitzpatrick practices in the firm’s Complex Litigation Department where she focuses on litigating cases in the areas of mass tort and class actions, pharmaceutical and medical devices, and sexual abuse. She has served as a member of the bellwether trial team for some of the largest multidistrict litigations in the country, including In re: DePuy Orthopaedics, Inc. Pinnacle Hip Implant Products Liability Litigation, MDL Docket No. 2244 and In re: National Prescription Opiate Litigation, MDL 2804. Laura earned her J.D. from Tulane Law School and her undergraduate degree from Louisiana State University.
