ST. LOUIS, Miss.—Simmons Hanly Conroy LLC, a national plaintiff’s law firm focused on complex litigation, has been ranked among the best workplaces in St. Louis according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The firm placed eighth out of 30 companies in the medium-size category of the publication’s 2013 Top Workplaces survey.
The Top Workplaces were determined based solely on employee feedback. Earlier this year, surveys were sent to 1,000 companies in the St. Louis area. Less than ten percent of the participating companies were selected to the final list and included in a special section of the June 23rd edition of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.
“It’s an honor be recognized among the Top Workplaces in the St. Louis area,” said CEO Gregg Kirkland. “We believe in our employees. It’s their hard work and dedication that make the firm such a positive place to come day after day.”
Employees were asked to answer a variety of questions about their organization. All feedback was anonymous. In the survey, the Firm employees highlighted the benefits package, monthly nurse visits, free gym memberships, the annual Miles for Meso 5K and 2k fun run that benefits mesothelioma cancer research and the Simmons Employee Foundation, a foundation run entirely by firm employees. Simmons employees have raised over $1 million to St. Louis area charities since it was founded in 2004.
One survey respondent said, “Simmons is caring about employees, caring about clients, and makes it easy to do my work – taking care of clients.”
The Firm was the only law firm to be included in the mid-sized category. It ranked along with companies like Four Seasons Hotel St. Louis, Schlafly Beer, and Daugherty Business Solutions, to name a few.
Simmons was founded by Chairman John Simmons in 1999 and is headquartered in Alton, Illinois, with additional offices in St. Louis, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. The firm employs nearly 200 people in the St. Louis area and is the largest plaintiff’s law firm in St. Louis.
The firm’s practice focuses on representing individuals and businesses in cases of corporate wrongdoing, including asbestos litigation, pharmaceutical injury cases, environmental litigation, consumer protection, intellectual property litigation and personal injury cases.
The employee survey is conducted by WorkplaceDynamics, LLP, a leading research firm on organizational health and employee engagement. WorkplaceDynamics conducts regional Top Workplace programs with 37 major publishing partners and recognizes a list of 150 National Top Workplaces.
