Attorney Kerry O’Sullivan is an associate at Simmons Hanly Conroy where she focuses her practice on helping individuals and families impacted by mesothelioma and other asbestos-related diseases.

With decades of experience practicing law, Kerry is a valuable asset to the firm’s Asbestos Team. In this role, she uses her wealth of experience and command of the law to pursue damages from corporations’ bankruptcy trusts on behalf of the mesothelioma victims they’ve harmed. For Kerry, serving as an advocate to those who have been harmed through no fault of their own was a decision that stemmed from firsthand experience.

“When I was a teenager, I was involved in a car accident that I didn’t cause. I was injured, and my parents’ vehicle was damaged,” she said. “The bills for my medical care and repairs to our vehicle could have drastically affected our lives, so we hired an attorney to assist us in recouping some of those costs. I saw firsthand how important it was to have an ally in that situation, and I knew immediately I wanted to do the same for others.”

Before joining Simmons Hanly Conroy, Kerry managed the Illinois Workers’ Compensation Program for a local law firm. She has tried jury cases, more than 100 workers’ compensation cases, and has represented injured workers at the appellate court. As part of this work experience, she also negotiated settlements, reviewed contracts, examined medical records and participated in extensive legal writing. When she first became an attorney, she practiced law at a family law firm, working with clients to dissolve their marriages. She also has experience with personal injury clients.

Kerry graduated with her J.D. degree in 1999 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, Illinois. Before law school, she attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, where she graduated in 1995 with a bachelor’s degree in political science. She was admitted to practice law in Illinois in 1999 and in Missouri in 2004.

Kerry lives with her family in the Greater St. Louis area and enjoys running, reading and local theater.
